The first thing to know about account verification is that it for your account and not “per collection.”
A blue checkmark badge on an account means that account has been verified for authenticity by OpenSea.
A blue checkmark badge on a collection means the collection belongs to a verified account and has significant interest or sales.
The blue checkmark is valuable because many investors will not buy an NFT without it. The whole idea is to “bring greater trust to the NFT ecosystem by helping the community identify authentic creators and content.”
In reality it also creates a chicken/egg situation since only accounts holding collections with at least 100 ETH of volume sold are eligible to apply. “We will be expanding eligible accounts soon,” Opensea said a of July 4, 2022.
“ These accounts will see a banner on their account page directing them to apply for verification in their profile settings. They will also receive an email from OpenSea if they have a verified email address listed.”
In the meantime, follow the standard application process.
Account verification criteria

Once your account has been verified, keep in mind that your your username, email address, and social connections fields in your profile will be locked. To make changes to a verified account profile you need to contact support.
Loss of Verification
Opensea also reserves the right to remove verified status for any reason, including violation of our Terms of Service, or engage in conduct that affects verification eligibility.
In our opinion the hassle of verification is well work th it, the highest bar may be putting together a collection with 100 ETH in volume, $100,000 in USD at the July Ethereum price, even hovering around a one year low of about $1000 at the time of writing. To make the $10,000 volume threshold, some collection holders try to buy their own collections using other emails and wallets, however, it’s fairly easy for Opensea to evaluate whether that $10,000 came from 3 other accounts, or there are 100+ active buyers in the market.
