One of the favorite tools used by professional investors is Messari.io. This site allows you to perform two basic fnctions: 1. See live charts to evaluate pricing and buy/sell strategies and 2. Find out what the top hedge funds are holding.
Since most of our members are not day-traders, we are going to focus on identifying opportunities by looking at what the hedge funds have picked. These hedge funds have probably spent a lot more time doing the due diligence, from vetting the founders & seeing how their demo and concept compares with other opportunities, to ensuring the actual code has been audited. It’s not a perfect solution, but a great way to both find new companies – and feel reasonably secure that they have been vetted by professionals.
Finally, if you have a portfolio, you can see how it stacks up against the pros.
Here’s how to start:
- Go to Messari.io
- Scroll down to the library. Those are the top hedge funds
- See which ones are performing better than others
- Click in and out of the funds to familiarize yourself with some of their holdings
- Sort by Market Cap. The Market Cap is simply the total amount invested in that coin. One pro trader looks for the LOWEST amounts – because that means that a hedge fund has invested earlier. They must have a reason!
- Do your own research!
Again, you want to look for value, not price-driven coins like DOGE, which are prove to more volatility. Do you believe in the model? Does it make sense?
